Effective January 1, 2023, new test procedures and performance standards go into effect for central air conditioners and heat pumps.  The upcoming test procedures can be found at 10 CFR Appendix M1 to Subpart B of Part 430 and the upcoming standards can be found at 10 CFR §430.32(c)(5) and (6).  Although submission based on these upcoming test procedures and standards is not required until January 1, 2023, some submitters have expressed a desire to begin submitting prior to that date.  Therefore, two new templates have been posted on the CCMS web site:

• TEMPLATE_Central_AC_and_HP_Other_Than_Multi-Split_App_M1_v5.0.xlsx
• TEMPLATE_Multi-Split_Central_AC_and_HP_App M1_v5.0.xlsx

Submitters may, but are not required to, begin using these templates effective immediately.  Prior to January 1, 2023, submitters may submit on either or both of a) the current version of the templates which are based on the test procedures in Appendix M and the currently prevailing standards and/or b) the “Appendix M1” templates.  However, all submissions using the “Appendix M1” templates will be assessed based on the Appendix M1 test procedures and the January 1, 2023 standards.
